This evening I caught a praying mantis. Now I must feed it things.

Comments:
So long as you don't start referring to it as your "prrreciousssss." ^/`

Have you named it?

Hi Miah...
>So is it he or a she.. :-)??
those are interesting to look at.
>So different then the norm of
bugs-hoppers?? whatever.
>So How is life going at this
point?? Going to church? We did
scamper around and got there today.
I had missed two Sundays before as
I was in Nampa. Your Dad got
the East side of the house painted
while I was away. Had a nice time at Poohs. We start back at Bible study at Smiths next Sunday.
Are you in a study there yet? Prayers for Jesse Hazard as she has a spot of cancer on her liver. They are to get a 2nd opinion
in Seattle Tuesday.Pete came out okay with his surgery. Recovered fast. Well.. drop me a note or so soon KoKay??
Love ya G_Ma

By an odd coincidence, Neil Gaiman also encountered a Mantid. Pictures here (as well as some of his other China pics)

I might call it 8472. I think it's male, but I'd need to see a female for comparison to be sure. It's about two inches long; pretty typical. I read that the biggest one ever measured was in China, and was 45 cm.

I've been going to the college Bible study again. I wasn't sure if I would, but most of my friends here are still in it.

Of what does a mantis' diet consist?

Good link, Qalmlea. Hadn't seen his blog for many moons.

They eat live insects, mostly. Spiders and centipedes also work.

Interesting. On Friday, I caught a lizard. It bit me. Then I took it outside and let it go.

Thats the thanks you get for a rescue mission.

:P
