Today was my first time teaching the 5th and 6th grade Sunday School class. Six kids showed up, and they said there are typically more like nine. The lesson was on Exodus 32, and it went fine, except I ran out of material in about thirty minutes and had another forty-five minutes to kill. We did Bible trivia games. The same thing happened to Andrew last week, so we are going to work on preparing more material for next week.

Hi Jeremi...Sounds like lots of fun with that class.
Idea???? Give them a study on your next lesson so they can have questions to ask about for you to answer and allow them a more lasting understanding??? Do you think that could happen okay? Or is that too unreasonable?? just came out of the blue to me. Love Ya G-Ma

I asked them to read the passages for next week. We'll see if they do.

Given previous experience with jr. high students (boys, at least), they will more likely laugh when you ask if they read the passages... but it's always worth a shot. Can't do any harm in asking, I suppose.

Keep in mind that this class is yours and Andrew's. I recommend that once you cover the materials that you need to you might also include things like trivia questions, games, or activities that will reinforce your lessons.
Be creative, that type of thing can help the concepts stick.

Yeah; we've had some different ideas like that.
